a new baby

thus, an announcement!  we used colors from her bedding -- turquoise, chartreuse, and a mauve-y muted pink...  who cares what the colors are when you have this adorable baby in the middle?!?!?
miss hadley grae, you are too much!

the definition of school

this is kind of just an excuse to post more pictures of these guys.  however, i was asked by a reader (ha ha ha) to tell her more about their school.

i wasn't originally even thinking about this kind of thing before actual preschool.  then i had the pleasure of having my sister here twice a week for the past year.  and a little free time for us.  we got a little taste of what it was like and it was kind of impossible to let that go until real preschool happened.  enter parents day out!  it's at our old church, which is so conveniently located not even 10 minutes away.  it's from 9-2:30 on tuesdays and thursdays and they finished their first week today.  i think the day consists of playing, going to a different room and playing, going outside and playing, snacktime, lunchtime, and a nap.  or attempt at one.  they've done really well, and i was told today by one of their teachers that they are really happy and well-adjusted.  it's always good to hear that, and also great when other people see your kids as just as special as you think they are.

here are a few more pictures from their first day.

their school bags

he who does not stand still

sidenote: if this post seems half-hearted and distracted, it's because i am.  i'm watching gretchen throw everyone under the bus on project runway.  whoa, the girl with the bad bangs is mean!

first day of "school"

i guess maybe because i hadn't gotten the camera out, told everyone to stand in a certain place (ha! like that would have worked), and to put their best non-fake smiles on, is why i managed to get this picture.  after breakfast, finn casually leaned on the window, and because we made such a big deal about how he was totally posing, liam wanted in on the attention - of course!  i have more pictures (the official ones, with their school bags in front of them because they don't really know how to hold them yet), but this one was just too cute to keep from the blogosphere.

we took them to their classroom, signed them in, put their bags in their baskets, got nervous as all the other kids around them erupted into tears as their parents left, and waited for their cries as we disappeared around the corner.  much to our delight (and, i'll admit it, a little to my disappointment), no crying.  when did these boys get so big?

like butta

all i did today was dream of getting back in these pants immediately after the boys went to bed.  i actually considered putting them back on after my shower this morning.  then i thought it might not be publicly acceptable for me to wear pajama pants out and about.  although i've seen much worse.  i went to florida this weekend with my mother-in-law and sister-in-law.  along with the most wedding planning i've ever seen crammed into 2 days, we also hit the best outlet mall fort myers has to offer.  gap was our first stop, and it (like usual) was where i did the most damage.  i'm pretty sure these were under $10.  doesn't even feel like i'm wearing pants.  in the words of linda richman of coffee talk, they're "like butta."  now discuss amongst yuh-selves.

and i promise i will stop posting random, non-liamandfinn related things soon.  we have our first day of "school" tomorrow, so i'm hoping to have pictures up shortly after that!  thank you, kristina, for leaving a comment and reminding me to do so!

if you don't like cleaning...

i don't believe in free advertising.  i don't buy clothes that have GAP or old navy emblazoned on them, and am definitely not a label kind of girl.  and i usually don't have anything that i'm that excited about that i'm going to take time out of my reality TV watching time busy day to blog about.  until now... bryan brought home a few samples of dish soap the other night from the lovely lady at the drugstore who demands we bring the boys in every chance we get.  it's kind of fancy schmancy (8.99 for soap!), so bryan warned me not to get any ideas.  well... too late.  we're big into smells in our family (that could be taken a number of ways -- don't go straight to the bathroom humor, guys), and this is like heaven in a spray bottle.  the brand is caldrea, they have dish soap, linen spray, countertop cleaner, room fragrance, and a few other scents to choose from.  my fave is ginger pomelo, whatever that means, and it's lovely.  i will admit it, i'm not a "clean the house every night" kind of mother/wife, but this stuff has had my counters and tables clean every single night since we bought it.  who knows about the rest of the house, but the kitchen's taken care of...

even though bryan still doesn't think it's worth it.
