home sweet home

we finally made it.  i was going to make this blog super cool w/lots of pictures of the exciting! trip home, but my camera's upstairs in my purse, i'm downstairs on the couch, do not have the energy to go get it only to realize i forgot to take pictures!!! i think i took a couple of the u-haul before we left fresno and that's it.  after the fact, i wish i would have taken pictures of the loading of the truck because, let me tell you, how amazing bryan, dan (tiffany's husband), and my bf jen are.  you should have seen the precise-ness of how they packed the truck- i definitely didn't get the spatial ability of seeing how things should fit together.  it was a perfect puzzle.  3 1/2 hours.  that's all it took for them to load basically our whole house.  a-mazing.  so the original plan was to leave on sunday morning early.  this was because i had google-mapped the distance from fresno to kansas city w/a small detour to santa fe to stay w/friends.  google said it was 23 hours, with 13 of those hours being from fresno to santa fe. ha! nice try. not so much- we left on saturday to get a head start, stayed in barstow, ca on saturday, were on the road at 7am sunday morning, and still didn't get to santa fe until 9:30 that evening.  i guess google doesn't figure in a 17 foot truck towing my car not really able to go faster than 65 or so.  we'd decided that was going to be our greuling day and we wouldn't be in a hurry to get home the next couple days.  well, we got going a little late on monday morning b/c we thought it wouldn't be the day we'd drive home.  but a couple of public restrooms in which i could barely hold my vomit down later, we decided to power through and drive all the way home.  so we left santa fe at 11 am their time, drove through amarillo, oklahoma city, wichita, and finally made it to the farm at 2 am the next morning.  4 hours on saturday, 13 on sunday, and 13 on monday.  i haven't been in math for awhile now, but i'm pretty sure that adds up to 30.   so i guess i don't rely on google next time.  actually, next time, i take an airplane. :) but we made it, and it wasn't that bad.  now that it's over. :)  my mom said she felt like all she was doing was stuffing my face.  i don't have really bad nausea as long as i keep my blood sugar up, so as long as it doesn't get worse (which it definitely could since i'm only 7 weeks), i will be very fortunate.  i already miss you all and wish that i could have you all around during this adventure that is being pregnant w/two little babies.  but it is wonderful to be home.  if only it would have been as easy as clicking my ruby red slippers together three times while whispering "there's no place like home"...
